TA Science Club

This week in Science Club, students enjoyed getting hands-on with chemistry by making and testing their own red cabbage indicator using everyday household solutions.

Activity 1:

Pupils followed instructions to create their own red cabbage indicator. They crushed red cabbage using a pestle and mortar, mixed it with hot water, and then filtered the mixture to produce a solution ready for testing.

Activity 2:

Students then used their homemade indicator to test a range of household substances, including Pepsi, lemon juice, shampoo and water. Using their scientific knowledge, they identified whether each substance was acidic or alkaline and estimated its pH.

Throughout the session, pupils demonstrated excellent skills, including following instructions carefully, learning from mistakes and adapting their approach to improve their results.

All students who attended Science Club once again received a raffle ticket for the Science Club Attendance Raffle Wheel, which will be drawn at the final club session before the summer holidays, as well as for the Easter raffle.

We look forward to seeing everyone again next week!
