On Tuesday 22nd September, Science Club at Thrybergh Academy explored how science is used in superhero films and the movie industry to create special effects. Students investigated ideas such as the Bat-Signal, foam attacks, slime monsters, superhero strength tests (like Thor’s hammer or Hulk’s strength), and even Spider-Man’s webs – all through hands-on experiments.
This week’s activities included:
- Creating Batman logos using ray boxes and light projections
- Making exciting foam reactions
- Mixing and testing different types of slime
- Using strawberry laces for a fun forces and strength challenge
Everyone who attended received a raffle ticket for the STEM Club Attendance Raffle Wheel, which will be drawn at Christmas.
Science/STEM Club is all about having fun while learning, building skills in science, maths, and technology, and working together to solve challenges. Information about upcoming sessions can be found on social media, the new Science/STEM Google Classroom, and the science corridor notice boards.
We love seeing how pupils grow in confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving every week – and we can’t wait to see what they discover next!
