TA Science Club

This week in Science Club, students took part in a variety of activities. Firstly, they discussed the best way to insulate a house, then used a card template of a house to build into a 3D model. After this, the students put their studying to the test, insulating the models with either cotton, bubble wrap, or newspaper, then using a light bulb to test how well the material keeps heat in. Everyone worked together on this task, and did a fantastic job.

The next challenge was to make some ice cream. The students were given a small bag to put in the milkshake flavours of their choice in, and a large bag to put ice and salt in. The small bag was then put inside the large bag and the students had to shake them for as long as they could, until the temperature dropped enough, making ice cream. Everyone got some great results, and took the ice cream home with them!

During the final task, students had to make their own smoothies using various different types of frozen fruits. They then blended this together, and taste tested them during the session. Some brilliant smoothies were made.

Well done, everyone!

Next week, students will be making chocolate fudge cakes. We are asking students to bring in any cake tins/tubs they have, so they can take their cakes home. Thank you.
