This week in Science Club, students explored a range of techniques used in Crime Scene Investigations, just like in CSI! They were presented with the circumstances of a possible crime scene and worked in teams to draw their own conclusions about what might have happened.
There were four exciting activities for students to undertake:
- Blood Analysis: Using ‘blood samples’ and testing solutions, students observed colour changes and matched samples to draw conclusions
- Footprint Investigation: Students examined tread marks in sand to try to identify potential suspects based on footprint patterns
- Toxicology Test: Using ‘drug testing solutions’ and unknown samples, students compared results to see which substances matched
- Chromatography Test: After discovering a note at the scene, students used chromatography paper and different pens to analyse ink samples and link them to the evidence
Once all tests were complete, students combined their findings and presented their conclusions, demonstrating fantastic observation, analysis, and teamwork skills.
Well done, see you all next week for the next exciting STEM adventure!
