Rotherham School Games Panathlon

On Wednesday 25th February, Thrybergh Academy proudly hosted the Rotherham School Games Primary Panathlon events once again. Alongside providing the venue, we supported the day with sixteen enthusiastic Sports Leaders who played a vital role in delivering the activities.

Panathlon is a national charity that empowers young people with disabilities and special educational needs by giving them meaningful opportunities to take part in competitive sport. The event brings together children from different schools to compete in adapted activities such as Ten Pin Bowling, Curling, Boccia, Football and Target Throw.

Across the morning and afternoon sessions, fifteen schools attended, welcoming over one hundred children to Thrybergh. Throughout the day, the Academy’s Sports Leaders were outstanding – guiding, encouraging and supporting the younger participants. Teaching staff shared many compliments with the Rotherham School Games Team, praising the leaders for being welcoming and consistently upbeat. Their contribution made a real difference to the experience of every child and ensured the event ran smoothly. In preparation for the event, the leaders had worked closely with Mr Walker to develop their communication and leadership skills.

Following two fantastic years of events, we are delighted that Thrybergh will continue to be the home of the Panathlon events, and we look forward to working alongside Rotherham School Games in the future!
