TA Science Club

This week in Science Club, students took part in a special Halloween-themed session filled with creativity, experiments, and a little spooky science!

Everyone took part in two main activities – starting with carving their own pumpkins and finishing with a fascinating chemistry experiment!

🎃 Activity 1: Pumpkin Carving

Each pupil was provided with a pumpkin (thank you, Mr Davies, for collecting them!) and, using safety knives and gloves, carved out their own designs. Some went for classic faces with eyes, noses, and mouths, while others used Halloween-themed templates like bats and ghosts.

🎃 Activity 2: The Oozing Pumpkin Experiment

Next, it was time to turn those pumpkins into bubbling science experiments! Students added yeast mixed with warm water to a container filled with hydrogen peroxide, glitter, and washing-up liquid. The result? A spectacular chemical reaction that created a foamy “ooze” spilling out of their pumpkins’ mouths – just like the Elephant’s Toothpaste experiment!

At the end of the session, everyone received a Halloween-themed gift bag to take home and enjoy.

We can’t wait to see everyone after the half-term break for Halloween Part 2 and our Bonfire Night Challenge!
