On Monday morning, our Year 10 Engineering students had a fantastic opportunity to take their classroom learning into the real world with a visit to the South Yorkshire Transport Museum – a trip that perfectly reflects the Wickersley Partnership Trust’s Enrichment Promise, which aims to provide all students with meaningful, real-life experiences beyond the school gates.
They had the chance to step inside and experience a range of historic transport, and even got to see first-hand the workshop where restoration work takes place, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the craftsmanship and engineering expertise involved.
A special highlight of the trip was the unique journey to and from the museum – students were collected in one of the museum’s fully restored vintage buses, adding an authentic and memorable touch to the day.
This visit not only deepened students’ understanding of mechanical and automotive engineering, but also gave them a glimpse into potential career pathways in restoration, design, and engineering.
A big thank you to the South Yorkshire Transport Museum for hosting us and sharing their passion for transport history and innovation. Our students left feeling inspired and full of ideas!
