Science Club

This week in Science Club, the students took part in a variety of practical Science experiments to test their skills on listening, following instructions, and general Science knowledge from their lessons.

There were five different tasks:

1) Celery Science – students learnt about the xylem in the plant, which sucks up water like a straw, and the coloured water moves throughout the celery.

2) Heat Experiment – students used hot and cold water, then added food colouring to see the difference between the two reactions.

3) Dancing Raisins – students put three different drinks into some small glass dishes, then when put some raisins into each of them and watched what happened. The students then worked out which pop drink had the best reaction and why.

4) Sweet Plant Model – students followed instructions on how to make the structure of a plant cell using different sweets. At the end, they were given the choice to take it home with them to show their family.

5) Mentos and Coke – students used a bottle of Coca Cola, and were directed to investigate the reaction it had when mixed with Mentos. The result was like a volcano reaction!

Everyone did such a fantastic job, well done!
