TA Science Club

This week in Science Club, students took part in three exciting, hands-on activities that explored colour and chemistry!

The first experiment focused on capillary action, where pupils used paper towels, red and blue food colouring, and water to observe how colours travel and mix – creating fascinating patterns as the liquid met in the middle.

Next, they learned how to grow a rainbow using kitchen roll, felt tips, and two bowls of water. By carefully drawing the colours of the rainbow on the paper and dipping it into water, they watched as the colours blended beautifully to form their own rainbows.

The final activity was a Bonfire Night themed flame test experiment, where pupils investigated how different chemical powders burn with distinctive colours. They tested five different chemicals and noted the flame colours produced. In part two, they used chemical solutions to design their own “mini firework” colour displays.

We can’t wait to see everyone again next week for more scientific fun!
