WPT Schools Awarded Music Mark of Recognition

Wickersley Partnership Trust (WPT) has been awarded the Music Mark of Recognition for Ambition and Quality in Music Education for the 2025/26 academic year – a testament to our Trust’s commitment to providing exceptional and inclusive Music opportunities.

The Music Mark of Recognition is a new national programme from Music Mark, the UK’s leading organisation for Music education. The programme celebrates schools and Trusts that demonstrate a strong commitment to high-quality, inclusive Music provision and a belief in the value of Music as part of every young person’s education.

By receiving this recognition, we have pledged to:

  • Advocate for the importance of Music education within the curriculum and creative life of every school
  • Provide equitable, diverse and inclusive Music education for every young person
  • Welcome opportunities to broaden musical horizons through collaboration with community and national partners

Through our broad and engaging Music curriculum, we give our students the chance to discover and grow their musical talents in a structured and supportive environment. Lessons are designed to develop a wide range of skills including: instrumental proficiency, vocal technique, music theory, composition and creative expression.

Alongside curriculum learning, our students have access to specialist peripatetic teachers who provide individual or small-group tuition on a variety of instruments. This ensures that every student – regardless of experience,  ability or background – has the opportunity to progress in this field should they wish.

Our offer also expands to providing students with the chance to be a part of musical groups, choirs, bands, orchestras and small ensembles. They get to attend concerts, showcases and community events allowing them to share their music with a wider audience, build confidence and develop key skills such as teamwork, communication and creative problem-solving.

Sarah Bingham, Director of Music at Wickersley Partnership Trust, said: We are honoured to have been awarded the Music Mark of Recognition. This is testament to the dedication and passion of our students and staff, whose creativity and commitment ensure that Music continues to thrive across our Trust.”

Thank you to Music Mark for this award and of course to our fantastic WPT Music Team who make it possible for our Trust to deliver an excellent Music offer.
