Expressive Arts Faculty

Expressive ArtsStaffed by specialists in their field, and taught in fully equipped rooms, the Expressive Arts faculty contributes much to the public image of the academy.

The number of students opting to study either Art; Drama or Music in KS4 has increased significantly in recent years and is higher than the average of other schools within the area. Students in KS3 have one lesson each week of Art, Drama and Music and (if chosen as an option subject) 3 lessons each week in KS4.

The Expressive Arts faculty provides a broad and balanced programme of activities that students find challenging, enjoyable and rewarding. Students of all abilities are encouraged to become fully involved and are given the opportunity to develop socially; emotionally and cognitively. The faculty is a hotbed of enterprise and has produced many quality Arts events over recent years, staging several Christmas pantomimes including: 'Dick Whittington' 'Cinderella' and 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. We have also performed traditional plays and musicals including 'Oliver, 'Blood Brothers', 'Grease', 'Little Shop of Horrors' and 'Dracula Spectacula'. The faculty contributes significantly to local church services and Carol Concerts at Christmas time and Thrybergh's answer to the X Factor called 'The WOW Factor' is always very well attended by members of the local community who fill the auditorium night after night.
