Adverse Weather Conditions

Dear Parent/Carer,

It is important to note that in adverse weather, we will always try to remain open to avoid disruption to our students’ learning. However, there may be times when our risk assessment results in the health and safety of our students or our staff being compromised. If we feel that either of the campuses are unsafe or that our students and staff can’t safely travel to the campuses, we may need to delay opening or close. In the event of bad weather, we will always announce a delayed start or closure via:

  • Website - announcing up to date information on our home page
  • Text Message - sent to all parents who have a mobile number logged with the Academy
  • Radio – announcements will be made through Hallam FM between 7am and 9am on the day of closure.

We will only put out information to parents if there is disruption to the day – therefore no news signals good news and we are open! We totally understand that students may need to wear more suitable outdoor clothing when travelling to school in these conditions (such as footwear). We do however ask them to ensure that they bring the correct items with them (such as school shoes) to enable them to remain in uniform for the rest of the day. I hope that this is clear and explains how the school will respond to the bad weather conditions. We apologise in advance if any inconvenience occurs but as said earlier, we will do everything that we can to remain open.

Thank you for all your support.
