Thrybergh's governing body are responsible for the three core functions:

- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- Holding the principal to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent

Governors promise to:

  • Promote high standards of educational achievement
  • Provide a strategic view of the school by establishing a vision and setting the purpose and aims
  • Appoint and performance manage the principal
  • Agree to school improvement strategy which includes setting statutory targets with supporting budgets and staffing structures
  • Monitor and evaluate the work of the school by reviewing the performance of the principal
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the policy framework, progress towards targets and the effectiveness of the school improvement strategy
  • Hold leaders to account for progress
  • Ensure financial probity and efficiency
  • Ensure members hold sufficient skills and qualification
  • Review ways of working
