TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT

Welcome to the Technology department at Thrybergh

Design and Technology at Thrybergh helps prepare our students for living and working in a technical world. It does this by teaching the technical understanding, design methods and making skills needed to produce practical solutions to real problems. It stimulates both intellectual and creative abilities and develops the personal qualities needed to complete a design project from initial ideas to the finished product.

Design Technology is taught throughout the school in our newly refurbished Technology suite.

The Department's ICT equipment is linked to the extensive school network, with access to the Internet via the RGFL provider.

Design Technology is taught as an integrated subject. The separate subjects Food, Textiles and Resistant Materials are taught in KS3 and KS4.

Technological activities are based on both improving existing products and recognising a need. The design process is taught through designing and making in all areas.

The main areas of study include structures (Food and Resistant Materials),(Resistant Materials and Textiles).

Health and Safety issues are paramount; pupils are taught Hazard Analysis.

Accommodation and Resources
