Welcome to the Art department at Thrybergh
The Art department is lead by Mr Arthur who teaches key stage 3 and Key Stage 4 GCSE Art curriculums.
The teaching of Art and Design at Thrybergh School aims to develop the pupil’s ability to look, record and appreciate a wide variety of art form and to make judgments about artistic quality. We encourage active involvement in different forms of visual and personal expression both individually and in groups.
We are linked with the Expressive Arts faculty which includes Music, Drama and Physical Education (P.E)
The department consists of a new ‘state of the art’ Art room with an interactive whiteboard and classroom computers allowing access to the schools computer network. We also have facilities to print, paint, sculpt and there is a kiln for clay work.
Part of P.E & Expressive Arts Faculty
All students at KS3 have one lesson of art a week which are planned in line with the National Curriculum strategies and at GCSE students have 3 lessons a week following the Edexcel course. GCSE students are encouraged to extend their own artistic interests, skills and knowledge and at Thrybergh we believe in using ICT in both art practice and as a learning tool.
