Following the success of Thrybergh's entry over the past two years, Thrybergh Comprehensive working through the Enterprise scheme over the Easter holidays will be once again entering the competition.

Roscars Background
'The Roscars' has gone form strength to strength. For those not familiar with the event it is a film competition run over the past few years for all primary schools including foundation stage settings, where all schools entering used a Digital Blue Movie Creator to produce a 2 minute film in one of the four age categories which was either a factual or fictional film. The event was a major success with over 70 schools taking part and over 100 films entered. The celebration evening took place at the Magna Special Events Hall and took the format of an 'Oscars' style evening with over 700 parents and pupils in attendance.

It was opened up to Key Stage 3, 4 and Post-16 pupils to allow them to demonstrate their potential, as well as provide an audience for the work they undertake as a part of their course work. The categories included Moving Image, Animation and Music Video.

Last years' event produced over 170 entries in the primary school category from a wide range of schools. Entries were also received for the secondary categories from a third of the comprehensive schools in the LEA, as well entries from two special schools. Again the evening took place at the Magna Special Events Hall, with over 800 attendees including pupils of all ages, parents, LEA advisors for both Rotherham and other interested authorities and many representitives from the sponsoring companies.
