Year 7 PE
In Year 7 PE is taught through activities which are generic in nature, this allows students to experience a wide variety of sports. This varied curriculum not only ensures that students cover all 6 areas of the PE curriculum, but it also gives the students a good idea of the activities they would like to specialise in throughout Key Stage 3.
Year 8 PE
All students within Year 8 follow the National Curriculum for PE. Students build on existing skills, knowledge and understanding from Year 7 through participating in challenging and enjoyable activities. These include outwitting opponents, accurate replication, exploring and communicating ideas, performing at maximum levels, identifying and solving problems, and exercising safely and effectively.
Year 9 PE
All students within Year 9 are expected to undertake a personalised curriculum following a pathway tailored to meet their individual strengths assessed from Year 7 and 8. These include Health and Fitness, Competition and Fitness, or a combination of the two. This enables each individual to maximise their full potential in preparation for Key Stage 4.
Key Stage 4 Core PE
All students within KS4 PE follow a personalised curriculum where they opt to take part in activities that best suit their needs. Students are given the opportunity to participate in less traditional PE activities such as Bowling and Taekwando, as well as activities such as walking and Health and Fitness, all of which allow students to access activities that set them up for life-long participation in PE and Sport.
