GCSE Geography

Do you know where you are going in life?
Geography could help you get there!

A recent survey of employers showed that after Maths and English,
Geography is rated as one of the most useful subjects because of the number of skills you learn and use. \you will also find these skills useful in other subjects.

Specialist careers involving the use of Geography include:
Armed forces, travel agents, leisure centre managers, journalists, civil engineers, water industry, teacher , surveyor, site manager, environmental work, aid agencies, civil service, police force and law. There are any more!

The SPECIFICATION promotes an investigative “issues based” approach. It is about relevant, up-to-date issues at local, national and international levels and in a variety of places.

The COURSE is made of four themes: People and Place, Water Landforms and People, Work and Development, Climate the Environment and People.

COURSEWORK makes up 25% and is assessed with a Fieldwork Study based on Tourism and a Cross-Unit Task. ICT will form an important part of it.

The FINAL EXAM is in two parts. One paper is a decision making exercise which looks at your ability to use information and make decision or plan.

The course is interesting, up-to-date and gives you the chance to work independently.

If you want further information, please see Mr Cross or Mr Rhodes.
