Commonwealth Medal Brought Home From Melbourne
PE teacher Katie Crowley returned from the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne Australia recently with a Bronze Medal following a 78-75 win over Nigeria. Katie plays for the Sheffield Hatters and now has 40 England Caps having played in the European Championships and World Student Games.

KatieThe experience of living in the Athlete’s Village in Melbourne was one she will never forget having rubbed shoulders with the most famous sports men and women in the Commonwealth

She was especially pleased to receive so many emails from friends and pupils at Thrybergh Comprehensive and also from our primary schools in the Action Zone. Katie’s comments printed in the e daily telegraph summed up the feelings of the team, “After the disappointment of the defeat against New Zealand we regrouped and knew it was important to stay positive.

We are all very emotional right now, but we are ecstatic to be coming home with a medal. This is a fantastic result for the team and hopefully for women’s basketball in England, I can’t wait to show off my medal to our students at Thrybergh Comprehensive School”
