Climate change will affect us all in the future, if we do not put a stop to it. Its effects take place in many different ways and forms, such as the icecaps melting because of temperatures rising – this affects sea levels and the habitats of many animals (such as the polar bear on the left). If the icecaps don’t stop melting in the future Britain could be under water.
Experts reckon the world could be 3 degrees warmer by the end of the century, damaging the planet in more ways than we could imagine.
They also say the greenhouse gases we produce - like carbon dioxide - are mainly to blame for the temperature rises; a cut back in these would help stop climate change and all of the damage we are causing.
You may think that you cannot put a stop to it, but if everyone were to change something to help it would postpone it happening or stop it totally! For example:
As part of a campaign to highlight the problem, the Eiffel Tower in Paris switched its lights off for 15 minutes to save energy.
To help you could any of these:
-
Turn your heating down a bit
-
Get better insulation
-
Wash your clothes at low temperatures
-
Walk or cycle as much as you can
