Y11 – Bullying Action Group
Set up earlier this year, the Bullying Action Group (BAG) have successfully run a week of assemblies in school to raise awareness of bullying issues. The group made 2 short films during summer school and one member has also written and recorded a song which has made it through to the final of the R Factor at Hellaby Hall (17 November).
A core of BAG are currently studying for a qualification in Effective Listening Skills (they now have completed this Level 2 Award). They have started to run peer mentoring sessions after school where other students with worries can make an appointment in person, by email or MSN to come in and discuss.
Anti-bullying week – BAG held a non uniform day (come dressed in something blue) for ‘Blue Friday’ a non- uniform day where both staff and students will donate to come to school dressed in blue to show their commitment and support for anti-bullying.
BAG’s work will be highlighted at the Anti-bullying conference on 22nd May. Miss France to attend and take a film of the students, who will be sitting their GCSE English on that day.
