FRANCE 2007

Thrybergh Excellence in Cities Action Zone is again organising a trip for Year 6 / Year 7 to Acorn Adventure’s centre at Ardres, near the village of St Omar on the Opal Coast in France on the following dates – Friday 15th to Monday 18th June 2007. The purpose of the trip is to aid transition between the primary and comprehensive schooling. It will also include activities to help with both confidence and team building skills. Further to this, all the children will have the chance to take part in outdoor activities which many of them will not have experienced before.

Acorns Opel Coast

The exclusive centre at Ardres has a superb lakeside setting. A large lake is at the focus of the flexible watersports programme for all the students, from first-time 'tasters' upwards. The exciting activities on offer range from kayaking and dinghy sailing to windsurfing and dragon boating.Acorn Adventure has been organising school trips since 1982 and operates stringent Safety Management Systems. This is the third trip that Thrybergh EiC Action Zone has organised with Acorn Adventure.

This year we have space for 80 pupils, so hopefully all who apply will be able to attend. We will be using Year 7 students in a mentoring role to help the Year 6 pupils. This means that a Year 7 student will be assigned to each tent with up to 3 Year 6 pupils.

Acorns Tents

They will be expected to take ownership of their group and co-ordinate with any tasks given.
