CONNEXIONS - WHAT IS IT?

  • Involves young people and works with them to help them be the best that they can.

  • Is available in different types of places.

  • Provides information, guidance and support for all 13 to 19 year olds.

  • Offers a range of services to help young people aged 13 to19 years old to cope with growing up.

Nord Anglia Lifetime Development is a partner in Connexions and is working with other organisations including Youth Services and voluntary organisations to offer you the best start in life.


Our Promise to You!
Anyone in South Yorkshire who is 13-19 years old can use the Connexions Service

Advice: Connexions will give information, advice and guidance about careers, housing, health or anything else that you need help with.
Information: Information will be available to you, whenever and wherever you need it.

Respect: You will be welcomed as an individual and treated with respect

Professionals: All our Personal Advisers who advise you are qualified and will work in a professional way with you

Support: We will give you the support you want and need
Listening: We will help you to help yourself – by developing your ideas and opinions

Understandable: We will use plain language, not jargon
Involvement: We want young people to be involved in Connexions in many ways. If you think you want to be involved, tell your Connexions Personal Adviser or a member of staff.

Confidentiality: All the information you share with the Connexions Service is treated fairly and lawfully. If it is thought helpful by either you or your Personal Adviser for sensitive information to be passed to a third party, you will be asked for your consent. The only time the Connexions Service will pass on information without your permission is if there is a legal requirement or duty for us to do so or if there is a risk of serious harm or threat to life. *up to 25 years old if you have learning difficulties or disabilities (LDD)

Your Personal Adviser is Tania Bray she offers a confidential and impartial service:

Advice and Information on: * health and social issues * housing and money* relationships * confidence Building * friendships * work skills and jobs * hobbies and interests * family and personal matter Guidance on: * options and choices in Year 9, 10 and 11, completing* planning & choosing a career * CV's and letters * applications for colleges* apprenticeships * jobs * 6th Form * interview techniques.

Information on a range of organisations involved in delivering this integrated service include local careers companies, youth services, voluntary and community groups.

Tania delivers information in a variety of ways in school: * requested interviews * invited interviews * referred interviews * Assemblies * parents evenings * special school events * community careers events* group activities * postal information

Tania will be working with you through school she is in school most days during term time and there will also be a drop in at Lunchtimes.

- Gives you information on College courses, 6th forms and online application form that all Year 11's in school will have to complete if they wish to go on to further Education.

- Has everything you need to know about a job or career, Information on the skills required, Salaries, Training and qualifications and the personal skills necessary.

- Information and links to Job Vacancies, apprenticeships, Careers and course information plus publications aimed at young people, including the Options at 16 booklet.

- Information about your likes and dislikes which will then generate a list of career ideas and options.
